Gloucestershire and Herefordshire Model User Guide & Care

Overview

Your Wagstaff Herefordshire and Gloucestershire Model Automatic is a precision timepiece designed for everyday elegance and reliability. This guide will help you understand how to properly use, maintain, and care for your automatic watch.

Water Resistance

Important: Your watch is splash resistant for everyday use, but is NOT suitable for swimming. While it can withstand splashes from handwashing, rain, or light moisture, avoid submersion in water or exposure to high water pressure.  For more information on water resistance and guidance, please see the Wagstaff water resistance guide in this section of our website.

Power Source & Daily Wear

Automatic Movement
Your watch is powered by the natural movement of your arm throughout the day. The rotor inside the movement converts your wrist motion into energy that winds the mainspring.

Daily Wear Requirements
  • Minimum wear time: 8 hours per day to maintain proper power reserve
  • Power reserve: Approximately 24 hours when fully wound
  • Note: If not worn for more than 24 hours, the watch will stop

Restarting Your Watch

When picking up your watch after a period of inactivity:
  1. Before setting time or date: With the crown pushed fully in (Position 0), manually wind the watch by turning the crown clockwise 25 times
  2. This adds immediate power to the mainspring
  3. Then proceed to set the date and time as needed

Crown Positions & Functions

Your watch crown has three distinct positions:
Position 0 (Crown Pushed In)
  • Normal wearing position
  • Crown is fully pushed against the case
  • Watch is sealed and ready for daily wear
  • Always return crown to this position after setting
Position 1 (First Pull)
  • Date setting position
  • Pull crown out one click from the case
  • Turn crown to adjust date independently of the hands
  • Time continues to run normally
Position 2 (Second Pull)
  • Time setting position
  • Pull crown out to its furthest position
  • Turn crown to set hour and minute hands
  • Second hand stops for precise time setting

Magnetic Field Protection

Important Precautions
  • Keep away from strong magnetic fields
  • Never leave your watch resting on or near laptops, computers, or electronic devices
  • Magnetic fields can affect timekeeping accuracy
  • If you suspect magnetic interference, consult an authorized service center
